Tarjimly Lesvos Workshop

A workshop for aid workers on Lesvos.
This is a very import communication tool.

Tarjimly Lesvos WorkshopFebruary 26, 2018, 6:00pmTarjimlyThe Tarjimly Team is touring Greece to learn about language barriers faced by Refugees and Aid Workers. Join us in Lesvos Monday at 6pm with our co-hosts, Stand By Me Lesvos, to hear about our backstory as MIT graduates and why we created Tarjimly, followed by a live demo and walkthrough of how to use it, examples of aid workers using Tarjimly today, and an open discussion for questions and ideas.

Tarjimly is a tech NGO that provides realtime translators for refugees and aid workers for free using Facebook Messenger. We have a community of over 3000 translators and have helped over 1500 refugees and aid workers get a translator within 90 seconds. We support chat, documents, phone, and video calling, and are available in 16 languages: tarjim.ly

We have hosted workshops for I Am You, Lighthouse, UNHCR and Samos Volunteers and are now hosting a workshop at 6pm Monday 26th February 2018. Biscuits and cookies will be provided for everyone, so invite as many of your aid worker friends as you like!

Thanks to donors from Holland, and the fundraising of Elly Bens and Sjanet Heins, today we were able to deliver 500 blankets washed to hospital standards, to people living in Moria. (Photo shows 500 clean blankets.)
Without their donation of €2.50 per blanket, nearly a ton of material would have been sent to landfill to eventually create greenhouse gases.
The government and international NGOs would rather trash and replace with new blankets. This makes no economic or environmental sense in humanitarian aid.
THANK YOU to all our donors from all over the world who have so far made it possible to save over 600 tons of materials from landfill.

Well done. More recycling should be done here in kos too. It would save a lot of dumping problems. Also they could make many things that could be used in everyday life.!!!!

Refugee Education and Learning is one of the projects that Dirty Girls enthusiastically supports; just as the volunteer teachers who come to Lesvos support Dirty Girls by volunteering some of their down time to us or by being fiscal supporters.

We are a US 501c3 registered charitable organization presently working at Gekko Kids, which is a new educational facility for unaccompanied refugee minors. We assist the teachers in our areas of comfort and skill.

We also work at One Happy Family, which is a volunteer funded, vibrant community centre built by and for refugees.
We help explore ways to volunteer there.

Please feel welcome to contact Cecelia Wambach and leave your email address (via the Contact or Message buttons) to request an information package which will answer any questions you may have.
