Dirty Girls is now working in London using the leftover fabrics from costume making in the entertainment industry to make individually designed bags-working with women in underprivileged and marginalised groups, including women in the LGBT community.
WAR AND THE ART OF MAKING BAGS Technology has made us immediate witnesses to the destruction of war and the impact on the lives of people. We believe that creativity is the antithesis of war and that each day we should ask the question of everything we do - “How can we be more creative with this?” We have the pleasure of working with beautiful fabrics, the left-overs from costume departments of film and tv, opera, ballet and theatre. The creative people in the costume studios allow the fabrics a continued life by sharing it with us, rather than taking the easy route of just piling it all up to be sent to landfill. The fabric is used to make bags. Each one an artistic creation. One of a kind. Just like the women who are making them. Women who have had to leave their home countries to make a new life. If you want to be part of being on the other side of war by helping sponsor a woman as she learns new skills in her new country, please feel welcome to use Paypal Giving where there are no fees for you or for Dirty Girls which is a registered charity.
Dirty Girls Bags, made from fabrics leftover from costume making for film and TV productions, are not just fun ... for every bag sold 5 trees are planted in the Dirty Girls "forest" by Tree Sisters. So far 2500 trees have been planted on behalf of Dirty Girls. Dirty Girls - People and Planet. dirtygirlsoflesvos.com... See MoreSee Less

yes to all AND we have to question, why is economic immigrant bad? if we had fair trade would there be such poverty that they need to flee? political stability in a region also increases economics within a country. No one goes through all that effort just to 'get a job' unless the conditions at home are far worse than the perils of the travel.
